“Inspired by my mother—a woman born in the mountains of Sorte, who traveled the world as a Viasa flight attendant, writer, and actress, and who believed deeply in the power of energy—Buddha has been a symbol of peace and generosity in my life. My memories are filled with images of Buddhas and saints, surrounded by international coins, as my mother’s friends would touch Buddha’s belly and head, wishing for a brighter future. These memories and teachings led me on my own journeys, visiting sacred temples—the grand temple in Sri Lanka, where Buddha reached enlightenment in the mountains of Kandy, and celebrating festivals in Bentota and Kandy. I felt his presence in the magnificent temples of Thailand, nestled in mountains that resonate with his teachings. Now, Buddha rests in my home, just as he did in my mother’s, seated on a plate with rice and coins from many lands. My daughter is now learning the power of energy. Today, I pay tribute to Buddha in my Legends Collection, honoring his enduring presence in our lives. Buddha is always within us.”
